Stephen Orgel

今日から英米系院生読書会はOrgel, _The Authentic Shakespeare: and Other Problems of the Early Modern Stage_ (Routledge, 2002)収録の"Prospero's Wife" (Ch.12)である。さて、どうなるか。

それはそうと、先週でハイデガーの"Building Dwelling Thinking"が一応終わった。いろいろ気になることがあって、そして刺激も受けたのだが、とにかく一番愕然としたのは以下のこと。
Homi Bhabha, _The Location of Culture_ (Routledge, 1994)の序論、"Locations of Culture"のドアタマに、こういう引用がある。

A boundary is not that at which something stops but, as the Greeks redognized, the boundary is that from which something begins its presencing. (Martin Heidegger, 'Building, dwelling, thinking')

なのに私は貼り付けている付箋紙に「ジェイムソンが念頭にあるのか」とか書いている。どうもアタマが腐っていたとしか思えない。で、ハイデガーはまさに以上の引用句の周辺でしきりにboudaryとかlocationの話をしているのだった。ハイデガーの引用があるなら、どうしてまずハイデガーを読もうとしないのか。ホント愚劣だな、自分。
