旅行中は読めなかったので（わかってはいたけど）、帰国後いそいそとCh.2 Literature (pp.112-197)を読む。
この章は、有名な論文"Three Women's Texts and a Critique of Imperialism" (1985)と"Versions of the Margin: J. M. Coetzee's Foe reading Daniel Defoe's Crusoe/Roxana," (1991)が中心になっているので、再読ではあった。が、ワカランところが結構あって、特にボードレールの"Le Cygne"論、151頁はよくわからない。*1
クッツェー論は、例えばFridayについて、""The native", whatever that might mean, is not only a victim, but also an agent. The curious gurdian at the margin who will not inform."(190)とあるように、"the impossibility of the perspective of the native informant"を読むという作業の反復になっている。まあ、わかる。

*1:ただ、149頁にはcygne〔白鳥〕とsigne〔記号〕は同じ音であるという指摘、これは『ディクテ―韓国系アメリカ人女性アーティストによる自伝的エクリチュール』でも書かれていた、はず。
